The United States is the dominant country although it is now growing more
slowly than either Mexico or Canada. The United States now has about twice
as many people as it had in 1950. Mexico has grown threefold in the same
period, while Canada also grew slightly faster than the US.
Since 1950 Mexico
has become larger than any existing European country except Russia. Canada
is also due to become almost as large as the half dozen largest in Europe.
None of the 5 large European countries grew even fractionally as fast.
