On September 2 , 2008, Mr. Hem Raj Lekhak, Vice President of Council and
Mr. Jeevan Raj Lohani, Honorary Member) met Secretary of Ministry of Women,
Children and Social Welfare, Mr. Punya Prasad Neupane at his office in Singhadurbar,
Kathmandu. We briefed him about U3A concept, the progress made so far and
also shared the findings of Seminar on Population Ageing and Development
organized in GBSSI, Allhabad.We discussed about organizing a seminar on population ageing and development from U3A perspective as well as starting ageing related publications. He is very much positive on these agendas. However, we could not recieve full fledge committment from him. He asked us to contact Senior Citizen's organization network of Nepal and another NGO called NEPAN. We also discussed about establishing office of Help Age International in Nepal. His response was entirely positive. He also requested us to establish the council of U3As in Nepal as a NGO to make further work easily through legal measures.
Finally, we agreed to meet again in discussing further agendas. In addition to secretary, Deputy Secretary, Mr. Upendra Adhikari was also present in that meeting.
