We were formed on July 1st 2007 with 35 members, but we are already growing fast.
U3A
Nigeria is for Education and Training, Career Development, Job Creation,
Research, Language Promotion, and Propagation of Vocational Education.
We teach Gerontology and Geriatrics to care givers, Doctors, Social workers, Community Extension workers, Policy Makers, Pharmacists etc etc. not as a purely academic area of interest but as strategies to promote the wellbeing of older persons and also to promote intergenerational programmes and poverty reduction.

U3A Nigeria is Multi-generational, promoting intergenerational programmes for the re-engagement of older persons who are transferring their dying vocations to the younger generation to occupy them for better productive engagements and reduction of poverty in both generations.
This
is one of U3A Nigeria's contributions to the Millenium Development goals
(MDGs). Our youth also transfer their new technologies to the older persons
for them to be properly trained for re-engagements.
We
are also for Retraining of Teachers in co-operation with Colleges of Education, Universities and Teacher Agencies.
