ADVANCE NOTICE: The Indian Society of Universities of the Third Age are pleased to announce a World U3A Conference to be held at the University of Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh, India, on 8th, 9th and 10th of February 2010. All foreign guests will be met, greeted, and guided by local Senior Citizens on arrival at Delhi Airport. This will be a low-cost, high-profile event, so start planning now.......!!
Serious Researchers, Translators, and retired academics will find http://cooperative.ning.com/ very interesting. The Research Cooperative is an international, not-for-profit organisation and a U3A group has already been formed.
SCI/TECH: NASA is well known, but equally, if not more important, is its sister organisation NOAA (NationalOceanic and Atmospheric Administration). Their website at http://www.education.noaa.gov/ has some excellent education resources entirely free of charge.
AUTHORS: The Ezine website is a place where Expert Authors share their best articles on a very wide range of subjects. Newsletter editors with some space to spare will find plenty to interest them at http://ezinearticles.com/
http://www.howstuffworks.com/ is a compendium of articles about How Stuff Works. Supported by advertising, it is written in a popular "gee whiz" style, but has plenty of well-written articles on a wide range of subjects.
TECHNICAL TOPICS Seriously thinking of trying Linux? The UBUNTU version is easy to get and install in parallel to windows. See http://tinyurl.com/bj9z29 - which in an online screencast about the dual-boot version just 13 minutes long.
