A world of new experiences is open to you in your third age - so what’s stopping you? Spire is based at Harnham, Salisbury, Wiltshire, one of a thousand u3as across the UK, part of a worldwide movement of people.

If you are no longer in full time work or raising a family - we call it your third age - u3a gives you opportunities to develop your interests, make new friends and have fun.

All Spire members are invited to the Harnham Memorial Hall, usually on the second Monday of the month. It offers a chance to find out what is going on, what the interest groups are doing, to socialise over a drink and hear a guest speaker.

Some members only come to the monthly meeting. Some members only attend a particular interest group or two. Some do both - pick and choose. Online talks, available at no extra charge from time time, are highlighted in the newsletter.

There is no entry fee but after two meetings you will be asked to commit to membership by paying a modest annual sub.

Spire u3a was founded in 1998 and is part of the Harnham Community Network, holding occasional joint events for our mutual benefit and that of the community.

We are part of the Bath Area Network of u3as and work together with neighbouring groups. This means that our members can join an interest group in another u3a which has vacancies. A few interest groups are ‘hybrid’ groups meeting both in person and on zoom.
